What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease that affects almost two out of every five women unable to conceive.
It is a painful condition wherein the tissues that should be developing within the uterus grows outside instead. The ovaries, fallopian tubes, peritoneum, and intestines are the most common sites for this tissue to form.
It behaves similarly to uterine tissue during your period, breaking down and bleeding at the end of the cycle. But this blood has nowhere to go.
Due to this, the surrounding areas could become inflamed or swollen, and you may have scar tissue and lesions. They can block your fallopian

The growths are not cancerous. However, if they interfere with the reproductive organs, it might be not easy to conceive:

Treatment for endometriosis
There are several options available for endometriosis treatment in India at our clinic. It can be treated with hormonal medications (pills that contain progesterone) or surgically, depending on your severity and symptoms. Some treatments include:
Laparoscopic Surgery
Endometrioma, the most common form of endometriosis, occurs in the ovaries as a small balloon filled with blood and a chocolate-like brown substance. The capsule covers the balloon.
During the procedure, Dr. Hrishikesh Pai will drain the chocolate substance and dissect the capsule from normal ovarian tissue, taking care not to damage the ovarian tissue or deplete the oocytes while removing the endometrioma.
Infertility treatment
If an endometrioma is discovered during a routine ultrasound, it may be overlooked and treated as part of a standard infertility evaluation. The doctor can scan for tubal patency and use IUI for 2 to 4 cycles of ovulation induction. If that fails, we may use IVF instead. You do not need laparoscopy before IVF.
However, in patients with large endometriomas (which can obstruct oocyte extraction during IVF) or symptoms such as discomfort, a laparoscope may be used to drain the endometrioma and remove the capsule while being careful not to harm the ovarian tissue. Carbon dioxide laser helps reduce the damage.
Alternatively, the doctor may leave the capsule parts closest to the ovarian hilum behind to minimize oocyte loss.However, the recurrence rate is higher with this partial capsule withdrawal. An AMH examination may be performed both before and after the endometrioma is removed. If AMH is reduced after surgery, you should undergo IVF treatment immediately.
Unmarried girls can undergo fertility preservation by having their oocyte retrieved and freezing them.
