What is Frozen embryo transfer?

Frozen embryo transfer (FET) is a process where frozen embryos from your previous IVF cycle are thawed and transferred to the uterus.

In this, you will not have to undergo hormone stimulation cycle and the egg retrieval process.

Step 1: FET Preparation

To prepare the endometrial lining, we start with estrogen pills and after a few days with progesterone.

We continuously monitor your progress with ultrasound, and if everything is fine embryo transfer process is scheduled.

Step 2 – Embryo Transfer

Five days after starting progesterone, we will thaw your embryos carefully in our laboratory.

Then with the help of ultrasound, we will transfer the embryo into your uterus where it will implant and grow into a healthy baby.

Why choose the FET procedure?

You may consider frozen embryo transfer in the following conditions or circumstances:

Have extra embryo –

During IVF cycle, several eggs are fertilized, but it is not safe to transfer more than two. The remaining embryos are cryopreserved for later use. If your IVF cycle fails, you can either undergo another full IVF cycle or use the cryopreserved embryos from your earlier cycle.

Want to expand your family –

You may decide to have another child using your cryopreserved embryos after your previous IVF cycle was successful.

Want to use genetic screening –

Some couples are at risk of passing a genetic disease to their children. To avoid doing so, they may prefer a preimplantation genetic test to screen the embryos for specific genetic disease or defects. The result of this test takes time, so the embryos are cryopreserved and transferred later on.

Want to undergo an elective procedure –

Nowadays with advanced technology, many prefer Freeze-all IVF cycle. It is considered on par or better than the fresh cycle. It allows to receive necessary treatments, prevent ovarian overstimulation and also provide time for preimplantation genetic testing.

What are the benefits of FET?

  • Has a higher success rate
  • Is less stressful
  • Can be scheduled easily
  • Gives an opportunity for PGT
  • Provides a natural uterine environment for conceiving

Frozen embryo transfer cost

The cost of frozen embryo transfer is much lesser than a fresh IVF cycle. This is so, as you will not have to undergo egg retrieval, insemination or embryo culture. Further, medication expenses are also less.

We are a name to reckon with when it comes to the best FET procedure. Our clinic is fitted with the latest technology and equipment and has a world-class lab. Furthermore, the frozen embryo transfer cost at our clinic is affordable.

Frozen embryo transfer success rates

In recent years, the freezing techniques have advanced significantly due to which FET offers better pregnancy and live birth rates, decreased miscarriages and healthier babies. It has surpassed the success rate of fresh embryo transfer.

Frozen embryo transfer success rates at our clinic are as high as 50 to 60%. Also, the children born through FET tend to have higher birth weight and are born nearer term.

Frequently Asked Questions

1Is the FET schedule flexible?

The frozen embryo cycle is much more flexible than a fresh IVF cycle. However, once progesterone begins, the procedure must be done in a specific time span.

2Is the frozen embryo transfer success rate blastocyst stage higher?

Blastocyst stage transfer means transferring the embryos, which are at a very advanced stage of development that is on the fifth day. There is a higher chance of implantation in a blastocyst transfer.

3When should you do a frozen embryo transfer cycle?

It is possible to undergo your FET procedure even after ten years of freezing your embryos. People usually undergo frozen embryo transfer after their fresh IVF cycle fails, want another child or if they are using the Freeze-all method.
